First time pairing Radu Albot and Dusan Lajovic have claimed the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open doubles championship crown beating top seeds Robert Lindstedt and Jurgen Melzer 6-4, 7-6(2).

First set went to the Moldovan and Serbian duo who went out the gates lightening fast, leading 4-1 with a double break. Despite losing one of their break advantage, Albot/Lajovic served out the set 6-4 against Melzer/Lindstedt.

Second set was a much tighter affair. Albot/Lajovic served for the championship at 6-5 but were promptly broken back by the veterans. Suffering no let-down in the ensuing tie-break, the Albot/Lajovic claimed it 7/2 at the end of 80 minutes.

TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open is both Albot and Lajovic’s first career doubles title, who knocked out third, second and first seeds respectively on the way to the glory.
